Sequence of Producing V-Process Molds
A.The patter is set on pattern plate of pattern box. The pattern as well as the pattern plate has numerous small holes. These holes help the plactic film to adhere closely on pattern when vacuum is applied.
B.A heater is used to soften plactic film.
C.The softed plastic film drapes over the pattern. The vacuum suction acts through the vents(pattern and
pattern plates) to draw it so that it adheres closely to the pattern.
D.The molding flask is set on the film coated pattern.
E.The molding flask is filled with dry sand. Slight vibration compacts the sand.
F.Level the mold. Cover the top of moulding flask with plstic film. Vacuum suction stiffens the mold.
G.Release the vacuum on the pattern box and molds strip easily.
H.Cope and drag are assemblied and metal is poured. Pouring the mold is under vacuum conditions
I.After cooling, the vacuum is released. Free flowing sand drops away, leaving a clean casting.
